Pura Vida, when quickly translated, means pure or simple life. This phrase reflects the culture of Costa Rica, where the people are as lively and colorful as the wildlife.
Before leaving Florida, I bought two layering necklaces from Kitty Litter Hawaii. They were perfect for all of the aquatic adventures I dove into. The necklaces never rusted or began to tarnish, no matter the number of times I swam in oceans or explored waterfalls.
While spending about three weeks backpacking last December with a few gal pals, I found myself completely immersed in the Pura Vida lifestyle. At home in Florida, I used to be uncomfortable leaving the house without at least a bit of mascara on. By day three, I stopped applying makeup entirely, wore a bikini every day and kept only the essentials with me:
- tapestry ( for sudden naps or picnics on the beach :p )
- 2 cameras (my iphone 7 and GoPro session)
- colónes ( Costa Rican currency)
- two necklaces
- Pura Vida bracelets
